Bunker Hill

Bunker Hill

Located at the historic Angel’s Knoll site in downtown Los Angeles, the site is part of the Bunker Hill district and is steeply sloped from corner to corner. The site is flanked by the Angel’s Flight funicular, built in 1901, which is on the United States National Register of Historic Places. The site is so steep it that it is impossible to use typical machinery to cut the grass so farmers would bring their sheep in to groom the plot.

Additionally, there is a Metro transit stop at the Southeast corner of the site. The site strategy is to retain all of the Park and enhance its functionality by grading it for architectural and landscape program. The primary entrance of the building engages the street at the high end, North West, corner of the site. This allows the lower existing portions of the site to be developed as an open park.
