SSF Transportation Hub
Located at the intersection of multiple modes of transportation and a new Caltrain station, 121 East Grand Avenue is set to become the transportation hub of South San Francisco.
The project is designed to prioritize movement and intersection, with circulation, flow, and pedestrian space as essential components. Inspired by rapid DNA sequencing, the facade will serve as a dynamic architectural beacon for the neighborhood and its focus on biotech research and innovation.
Additionally, the project aims to promote pedestrian and bicycle circulation in line with the revitalization plan and increase foot traffic, usability, and vibrancy through the introduction of a Grand Public Plaza on the site. The plaza will serve as a central gathering space and a hub for public programming, connecting residents and employees in the surrounding area through a network of pathways and landscaping.
